Cooking Equipment for Families

The Situation

Providing refugee camp-residing families their own cooking stove and water kettle goes beyond the practical benefits -- it is a statement of respect for their autonomy, dignity, and cultural identity. It empowers them to make choices, create a sense of home, and rebuild their lives with a degree of independence, crucial for their physical and psychological well-being during challenging times.

Open Arms Refugee is an organization started by 2 Eagle Scouts from Bay Area, California, Vallabh Himakunthala and Arnav Gupta. Both share a passion to support those refugees seeking assistance from all across the world. Throughout their scouting journey, they loved prepping dishes for their mates on camping and hiking events. All the fun experiences motivated them to teach others how to cook. Unfortunately, children stuck in refugee camps suffer immensely without proper food, nutrition, and basic cooking knowledge. Vallabh and Arnav opened this program to raise funds for cooking equipment and cooking coaches in Lesvos, Greece. Refugee children will be able to take care of themselves with your support.
